Crew & Aircraft¶
Assigning the right aircraft and crew is essential for accurate compliance documentation and for the CAA operational category calculation.
Assigning a Drone¶
The Drone dropdown in the Crew & Aircraft tab shows all drones with Active status. Archived or under-maintenance aircraft are not listed.
Each drone shows its name and class marking. The drone you select affects the CAA category calculation — its maximum take-off weight, class mark, and capabilities (low-speed mode, camera, etc.) are all taken into account.
Weather guidance
Once a drone is assigned, the project's weather forecast view will show drone-specific guidance based on its IP rating and maximum wind speed tolerance.
Assigning a Pilot¶
The Pilot dropdown lists all registered users. Choose the remote pilot who will be in command for this operation.
The system checks whether the assigned pilot holds the certifications required for the calculated CAA category and displays the result on the Category tab. If the pilot is not qualified, you will need to either assign a different pilot or adjust the operational parameters.
Additional Crew Members¶
You can add as many additional crew members as the operation requires. Each row needs two things:
- Name — select a registered user from the dropdown
- Role — choose from the available crew roles (Observer, Payload Operator, Secondary Pilot, etc.)
Crew roles are managed by a Responsible Officer in the Admin Panel.
Adding a crew member¶
Click Add Crew Member at the bottom of the crew table. A new row appears with dropdown selectors for name and role.
Removing a crew member¶
Click the × button at the end of any crew row to remove that person from the operation.
Saving Changes¶
Click Save Crew & Aircraft to save all changes on this tab. The page will remain in the editor. Use Back to Project when you are finished.
