Creating and Managing Projects

A project represents a single drone operation or series of related flights at a specific location. All documentation — checklists, risk assessments, flight logs — is attached to a project.

Creating a New Project

Click New Project on the dashboard. The system walks you through a multi-step wizard:

Step 1 — Location

Enter the name and address of the flight location. A map is shown so you can confirm the area. You can also drop markers to define specific points of interest.

Step 2 — Type and Purpose

Select the operation type (e.g. practice, training, research) and give the project a short name. The name is used throughout the system to identify this operation.

Step 3 — Details

Add a description and set the date of the operation. You can also add any supporting notes.

Step 4 — Crew and Aircraft

Assign a drone from the active fleet, a pilot, and any additional crew members (observer, payload operator, secondary pilot). See Crew & Aircraft for details.

Step 5 — Viability Check

The system automatically calculates your CAA operational category based on the drone and the five operational parameters (altitude, BVLOS, dropping items, proximity to people, flying over crowds). It then checks whether the assigned pilot holds the required qualifications.

Pilot qualification check

If your pilot does not hold the required certification for the calculated category, the system will prevent you from completing the project until a qualified pilot is assigned or the operational parameters are changed.

Viewing a Project

From the dashboard, click any project card to open the project page. You will see:

  • The project details and flight code
  • The assigned drone and pilot
  • Any additional crew members
  • The CAA operational category badge
  • Buttons to open checklists and documentation forms

Editing a Project

Click Edit at the top of the project page to open the unified project editor. It has six tabs:

Tab What you can change
Basic Details Name, date, description, purpose
Classification Operation type and sub-classification
Flight Area Map markers and flight area definition
Places Linked places of interest
Crew & Aircraft Drone, pilot, additional crew
Category Operational parameters and CAA category

Each tab saves independently. Use the Back to Project button (top left) to return to the project view without saving.

Deleting a Project

Only a Responsible Officer or the project creator can delete a project. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
